This year, there is a new Nike Air Max on the schedule. This summer, we can expect a Nike Air Max 2021 for the ladies. This model is part of the Move To Zero project of the American sports brand.
Move To Zero
Sustainability plays a central role in Nike's Move To Zero project. The goal of the project is to protect the future of sports. The brand recognises that they have been a major environmental polluter and now want to change this.
Nike has set up a number of goals that they want to achieve. These goals ensure a cleaner production process and a cleaner planet. The brand aims for a future without plastic waste. Plastic is a big culprit for the environment.
The sports brand also wants to stop emitting carbon dioxide. This is used in the factories during the production process. The harmful substances of the CO2 swirl through the air without people noticing. They cannot replace this substance at once, but they want to get there in the coming years.
At the Nike office, they no longer use single-use plastic. Think of plastic straws and plastic cutlery. They also created the Nike Circular Design Guide. It describes the process the brand is currently undergoing.
Nike calls the project a marathon and a sprint at the same time. They have a lot to do to finally reach their goals, but there is not much time. They have to sprint during the marathon to stop the pollution in time.
Meanwhile, the brand has designed and applied many technologies to their trainers. Many products are now part of this project.
Nike Air Max 2021
The Nike Air Max 2021 is part of the Move To Zero project. This means that at least 20% of all materials used are recycled. The recycled materials are discarded consumer products and leftover production materials.
The sports brand has confirmed two colorways of this model. An Air Max 2021 'Venice' for women and an Air Max 2021 'Ghost/Ashen Slate/Obsidian Mist' for children.
Nike Air Max 2021 'Venice' | DA1923-500
The Nike Air Max 2021 has a unique look. The upper is made of nylon in light purple. On the side is the black Swoosh which we are used to from Nike. This model has many new elements.
There are rubber dots around the nose. On the inside is a panel of perforated mesh. On top of that is a half circle of leather with the text 'Nike Air Max'. The overlays of the laces are made of leather and roughened. The tongue is made of the same perforated mesh, but this time in light blue. The lace eyelets and some of the stitching are bright pink. This provides a clear contrast.
The midsole has a new Air unit and consists of two parts. The Air unit is located under the heel and is orange. Around the Air unit is a TPU cage that can be folded. This provides a soft feel and better cushioning. The other part of the midsole is white. Above the midsole is a midsole that goes from orange to light purple. The outsole is black.
Nike Air Max 2021 'Ghost/Ashen Slate/Obsidian Mist' | DA3199-002
This colorway is for the younger sneakerheads. This sneaker uses simpler colours and has less contrast.
The upper is a blue/purple colour. The contrasting stitching is blue and bright yellow. This yellow colour is also reflected in the Air unit under the heel. The entire midsole in this colorway is white. The midsole above it transitions from blue to grey.
