Rumours and images of new colorways for the Sacai x Nike VaporWaffle collaboration have been circulating since the end of last year. Now we can look forward to the announced 'Dark Iris' and 'Tan'.
Sacai x Nike VaporWaffle - The New Design
Chitose Abe's Modelable Sacai and Nike are known for the successful and unusual LDV Waffle and VaporWaffle models. For their new release, they have reworked the design of their VaporWaffle a bit more and replaced the mesh, which was previously used as a base, with nylon. They have also added leather and suede overlays.
The two new 'Dark Iris' and 'Tan' colorways feature the familiar and popular details of the collab. At the front, of course, there are the double elements like the Swoosh, the tongue, the laces and the chunky sole, which splits again at the end.
In addition to many special accents in the design, the co-branding of Nike and the Sacai collaboration is of course not missed. Here you can get a first impression:
Background Check
The Japanese fashion label Sacai was founded in 1999 and since then has stood for the unique creativity of Chitose Abe. (The designer also worked for Comme des Garçons for quite a long time). Sacai's sneaker designs have become an absolute benchmark in street style.
We expect more strong releases from the Swoosh brand and fashion label this year. There are even rumours of a three-way collabo with Clot. For even more upcoming releases, make sure to check out our release calendar!
VaporWaffle 'Tan' | DD1875-200
For this more simple colorway, different shades of beige have been used on the upper. A navy blue colour takes over the Swoosh, the laces, the heel and the sole. We also see a special colour gradient on the laces.
We have already mentioned the double elements. In this look, different colours are used for this: White, navy blue and beige. The sneaker is completed with a black rubber outsole.
VaporWaffle 'Dark Iris' | DD1875-500
'Dark Iris' - the name already gives it away - is darker and shows a little more colour. A dark purple makes up the base, while orange elements stand in striking contrast. White, beige and dark blue accents complete the design.
The sneakers will be released on Tuesday, 27 April 2021 at 9:00AM for €180.
