Maison Margiela and Reebok are certainly not strangers to each other. Last year, the two already released the Instapump Fury. This sneaker had a very striking platform heel. Now the two brands are back with a new project and they will soon release the Classic Leather Tabi. A combination of the Reebok Classic Leather and Maison Margiela Tabi.
Maison Margiela is a French luxury brand founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. The brand is inspired by haute couture clothing, as well as ready-to-wear clothing. The designer brand runs product lines such as womenswear, menswear, jewellery, footwear and home decoration. Maison Margiela has become known mainly for its deconstruction and avant-garde designs. The brand also held its fashion shows in unusual places, such as underground stations and street corners. Over the years, the brand has also had some other collaborations with brands such as The North Face, Converse and Highsnobiety.
Maison Margiela x Reebok Classic Leather Tabi | H04859
What immediately stands out about the sneaker is the Tabi split toe construction. This construction is a classic of Maison Margiela and was first seen in 1988. The entire upper is made of nappa leather. This makes the sneaker so much more durable and it feels extremely soft. What makes the shoe even more special is that it looks like the whole sneaker is painted. This gives the upper a deconstruction and DIY look. The Reebok logo is as always on the midfoot in a dark blue colour. This colour is also found on the tongue and sockliner. The upper sits on the comfortable EVA midsole and rubber outsole.
The Maison Margiela x Reebok Classic Leather Tabi comes out on 30 January via Maison Margiela and Reebok. The Classic Leather Tabi isn't cheap, as it comes with a €350 price tag. Check out the images below and keep an eye on our news page to keep up with the latest sneaker news.
