After the recent releases of the Rainier and 860v2 models, Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance are returning again to their classic silhouette: the New Balance 550. The New York label reintroduced the New Balance 550 in 2020. The sneaker has had multiple releases in recent years, and now two suede colorways are appearing.
The New Balance 550 was originally released in 1989 but did not immediately catch on. The basketball shoe has a low fit and received a high variant in 1995: the New Balance 650. The New York fashion label Aimé Leon Dore successfully brought back the 550 silhouette in 2020.
Since its re-release, the New Balance 550 has become a staple in the sneaker scene. The low fit, asymmetrical overlays on the toe, and branding on the tongue, upper, and midsole are characteristic of the 550 model. Now the silhouette appears in two colorways: 'Taupe' and 'Brown.'
The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 550 'Taupe' has a light colorway. The upper combines the colors beige, off-white, and taupe. The mudguard on the toe excists of coarse suede. The 'Brown' colorway shares the same details and comes in a dark brown color.
The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 'Taupe' and 'Brown' do not yet have an official release date. We can expect the sneakers in 2023 at ALD. Check out the official images of the sneakers below and keep an eye on our release calendar for the latest updates.
