Ah dat lucht op!
Naast een sneaker addict ben ik ook nog eens een sneaker journalist! Via mijn blog www.kickoutofthebox.com vertel ik mijn eigen sneakerverhalen en sneakerliefde en die van velen andere sneakerheads van over de hele wereld.
Sneakerjagers is ook een groot voorstander van het delen van sneakerliefde, dus vanaf nu kunnen jullie de komende weken weer elke vrijdag genieten van één van mijn blogposts op sneakerjagers.nl.
Wij Nederlanders zijn een heel werelds volk, dus dat de posts in het Engels zijn is vast geen probleem! Mocht het toch niet helemaal lukken is er een dikke vriend die je vast wel wil helpen… dan ga je gewoon voor quality time met mr. van Dalen.
Deze week praat ik jullie bij over mijn afgelopen 2 maanden en waarom ik even afwezig ben geweest, maar belangrijker nog… ik vertel kort over mijn Sneakerness Amsterdam ervaring en ik geef jullie een kijkje in de Sneakers & Streetwear Popup Shop van Approved Sneakers. Een verfrissende manier om de sneakercultuur te beleven…
Okay, so I’ve been silent for quite some time now and I feel like the time has come for me to start sharing those sneaker stories again.
I’ve missed participating in our culture big time, I just didn’t have the energy. I’m a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but first and foremost I’m a mother. It’s crazy how life teaches you that everything is replaceable except for your loved ones. This is something we all know, but I didn’t truly realize on a daily basis. Until life forced me to understand what’s really important that is… The last two months my oldest daughter has been ill, up until the point that she was fighting for her life. The thought that I could’ve lost her still drives me crazy, but I have to be happy and grateful that we all got another chance. A chance to appreciate each other on a deeper level. A chance to show her that life is beautiful and that one should enjoy every minute of it! A chance to show her how important love is…
As crazy as it sounds, I’m forever grateful for everything we went through as a family… it taught us some very valuable lessons and made us stronger in the end.
Now the time has come for us to enjoy life to the fullest… to breathe, to laugh, to relax, to make sure that everyday life doesn’t get to us like it used to! And what better way then through our very own sneaker culture to do so?
Sneakerness Amsterdam was my very first event after all of this. Seeing everybody again and feeling the love was just what I needed and it was so inspiring. It felt like I was charging my battery, just like in Dragon Ball Z LOL.
The thing I love most about our culture is the diversity of people who are part of it and this was beautifully displayed on the “Bespoke wall”. I’m grateful and honored that my very own “Mad Scientist” was included.
I have to admit that I missed that important diversity on the seller’s tables. I hope that during the upcoming events more private sellers surprise us with gems and that the rest steps up their game and brings us those grails.
Next stop was the Sneakers & Streetwear Popup Shop curated by Approved Sneakers. I loved the laid-back vibe of it all. It allowed me to just sit back and chill, to take it all in and check out all of those dope pieces. It felt like a living room filled with friends, great kicks, sneaker books, streetwear, accessories and sneaker stories. To me it was a refreshing way to enjoy the culture. I hope we’ll see more of this in the future!
Okay so this was me telling you about my journey and the fact that I’m back in town… I have so much more to tell you about all of the love I have received from the culture and those beautiful people who are in it and who had my back during the last two months. And of course about my pick ups!!! So be sure to keep your eyes on the blog, I’ll be telling plenty of stories (>‿◠)✌.
